Kourtney Kardashian details 7-month-old son Rocky’s ‘terr*fying’ & ‘rare’ condition that led to emergency fetal surgery

Kourtney Kardashian’s Harrowing Experience with Rocky’s Emergency Surgery

In September 2023, Kourtney Kardashian faced a terrifying ordeal when her son, Rocky, needed emergency fetal surgery. The operation was a life-saving measure for the newborn, who was born in November.
Months after Rocky’s birth, Kourtney detailed the “rare” and “terrifying” condition that led to the emergency surgery. On the June 20 episode of “The Kardashians,” she opened up about the harrowing experience. “We had a terrifying scare,” Kourtney recalled. “It’s super rare — the condition that he had — but it’s also super rare and lucky that we caught it.”

Kourtney expressed immense gratitude for the successful surgery. “Thank you, God, for a successful surgery. I’m honestly just so grateful. I have no words,” she said.

Despite the successful surgery, Rocky’s condition started to resurface. “The fluid in his lungs actually did start coming back,” Kourtney recalled. However, she found inspiration in the documentary “Heal,” which discusses the power of positive thinking. “I started talking to the baby every day — saying my prayers. After I had that mindset shift, the fluid was completely gone and we had not one single problem after.”

In June 2023, Kourtney announced her pregnancy with husband Travis Barker at a Blink-182 concert in Los Angeles, holding a sign that read “Travis I’m Pregnant,” mimicking a scene from the band’s 1999 music video for “All The Small Things.” The couple welcomed Rocky Thirteen Barker on November 1, 2023, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Before conceiving Rocky, Kourtney and Travis underwent IVF as part of their journey to start a family. During season three of “The Kardashians,” Kourtney shared that they had decided to stop IVF. “We would love a baby more than anything but I just really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby then I believe that it will happen,” she said.

Kourtney also revealed that she had previously frozen her eggs. “Before Travis, when I was 38 or 39, everyone was, like, pushing me to do that, and most of mine didn’t survive the thaw because eggs are one cell, and none of them made it to an embryo,” she explained. She used this opportunity to educate fans about the realities of IVF, noting that freezing eggs “isn’t guaranteed.”

While Rocky is Kourtney and Travis’s first child together, they both have children from previous relationships. Travis shares kids Landon and Alabama with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, and has taken on a father figure role to Atiana De La Hoya, Shanna’s daughter with former boxer Oscar De La Hoya. Kourtney has three children — Mason, Penelope, and Reign — with her ex, Scott Disick.

Kourtney and Travis began dating in January 2021 after years of friendship. Their relationship quickly became serious, leading to Travis proposing on October 17, 2021. The couple unofficially married at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on April 4, 2022, before legally marrying on May 15, 2022. They celebrated their union with a grand ceremony in Italy on May 22, 2022, surrounded by friends and family.

Kourtney Kardashian’s journey through Rocky’s emergency surgery and recovery highlights her resilience and unwavering faith. Despite the challenges, her positive mindset and support from loved ones have helped her navigate this difficult time. As she continues to share her story, Kourtney’s experience offers hope and inspiration to others facing similar struggles.
