An eigh-month-old baby burned to death after mom and dad allegedly threw her into scorching bath water

Jannah Abughazaleh was found unresponsive with serious burns with her parents Hussein Abughazaleh and Kristina Siedlecki claiming the injuries had come from a bath she had taken days earlier.

During the investigation, both parents reportedly admitted to watching their child’s burns deteriorate over a number of days as they left her in pain while refusing to seek medical treatment.

Jannah died from her injuries days after the alleged incident, with authorities revealing both parents have now been arrested on murder charges.

It comes after a Texas woman, Yanira Prado, 22, has been charged with capital murder after a medical examiner determined that the newborn baby found deceased in her toilet was alive at birth.

Police allege that Prado ‘knowingly and willfully’ drowned the baby, while Prado insists that she ‘didn’t know’ about the pregnancy. Prado is currently being held at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on $1 million bail for charges of capital murder, tampering with evidence, and an immigration charge.

According to a press release from the Odessa Police Department, they discovered the child on October 9 after responding to a call at the woman’s home.

Investigators demanded an autopsy while Prado was subsequently taken to the nearby Medical Center Hospital for examination.

The baby’s autopsy showed that the infant was born alive “but suffocated on amniotic fluid, other fluids, and strange fibers.” That’s when police issued a Capital Warrant for her.

According to authorities, Prado was arrested “without incident” last Friday.

In a shocking twist, Prado told Odessa police she was unaware of her pregnancy, according to the Odessa American. In the reports, Prado informed officers she didn’t know she was pregnant, and told them she simply thought she was having a bowel movement when she gave birth.

She admitted to using nail clippers to cut the umbilical cord after seeing the baby, adding that at one point, she felt lightheaded and couldn’t get up from the toilet. Prado also said that the baby did not cry or make any noise.

In a panic, Prado texted someone else in the house for help instead of seeking immediate assistance, according to the report. In a house where nobody knew Prado was expecting, one person even recalled asking her about the pregnancy due to the lack of feminine hygiene products in the trash, the report added.
